Petrova Rallies Past Mattek For Quebec Title

POSTED: 5:28 pm EST November 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - Nadia Petrova of Russia came back from a set down to beat American Bethanie Mattek for the title at the Bell Challenge.

The top-seeded Petrova rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph to earn her ninth career title and second of 2008. She also captured the crown in Cincinnati before the U.S. Open.

Mattek, seeded sixth, had never before reached a WTA final. She lost in the semifinals twice earlier this year -- at Birmingham before Wimbledon and at the East West Bank Classic in Los Angeles in July.

This was the first meeting between the two.

The victory was worth $28,000 for Petrova.
