UPDATED: 8:42 am EDT March 19, 2007

Ivan Cabrera joined the WESH 2 Weather Plus Team, Central Florida's largest and most experienced team of broadcast meteorologists in May 2006.

He is the first bilingual meteorologist on non-Hispanic television in the Orlando market to deliver weather information fluently in English and Spanish.

Ivan can be seen weekends on WESH 2 News and on the station's 24-hour weather network, WESH 2 Weather Plus (Bright House digital channel 1021). He can also be heard on radio partners such as WMGF-FM (Magic 107.7) and his forecasts appear on WESH.com and in the Spanish weekly newspaper La Prensa.

Ivan is a native of Cuba and a former Miami resident, whose family survived Hurricane Andrew but sustained significant damage to their home.

He is a graduate of Florida State University and holds seals of approval from the American Meteorology Society and the National Weather Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Earlier in his career, Ivan was a meteorologist for WSI Corp. in Boston. He provided television weathercasts to the national Fox News Channel in English and to stations around the country in Spanish, including NY1 News in New York City, Bay News 9 in Tampa and News 8 in Austin.
