Dr. Todd Husty

Medical Reporter

Dr. Todd Husty has been the medical reporter for WESH NewsChannel 2 since October 1995.

He brings Central Florida the latest on health, fitness, and nutrition issues, with a focus on preventive medicine.

He's a graduate of Coe College and the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine, a board-certified emergency physician, and a former editor for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians.

Todd's career in emergency medicine began with an internship at Doctor's General Hospital in Plantation, Fla., then continued with a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he continued to work in emergency departments in almost every hospital in Central Florida.

Todd has also been the medical director of several emergency rooms in the area and the medical director for the Maitland Fire Department since 1988. He is currently on staff at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

He also serves as a medical director of emergency medical services for Seminole County.

Todd's involvement in medicine extends behind the scenes, as well. His company, Medical Audit Resource Services Inc. (or MARSI, as he calls her), provides coding, auditing, and other expert review for hospitals and physicians in the area of health information management, and that is why the Web site is himexperts.com.

Todd is also a board member of the American Heart Association, honorary chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis "Great Strides" walk, a board member of the American Cancer Society, and he's a frequent speaker at schools, medical conferences, and social and civic association meetings.

His interests include sailing (boats and planes), skiing (both liquid and solid), dragging kids around on the lake, gardening (including 350 citrus trees), and not working nights, weekends or holidays.

Todd's family includes his wife, Yvette, and three children: Todd, Ross and Abigail. In addition, they have four cats and one dog.
