Amy Sweezey

Meteorologist

Amy Sweezey joined WESH 2 News in August 2002. A seasoned weather forecaster, she keeps viewers informed at noon and 4 p.m. She also plays a key role in the station's 24-hour weather network, WESH 2 Weather Plus.

Amy moved to Central Florida from Kalamazoo, Mich., where she worked forecasting snowstorms for more than seven years at WWMT-TV. She also worked in television in South Bend, Ind. and Chicago, Ill. After many years of living in the midwest, Amy is very excited to be forecasting warm weather in the Sunshine State.

A native of Michigan, Amy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University of Chicago before continuing her meteorological studies at Mississippi State University. She has received the broadcast seal of approval from the National Weather Association and has been designated a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society.

Amy "weathered" the 2004 Florida hurricane season while nine months pregnant. After forecasting hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Ivan, she left for the hospital, where her daughter was born as Hurricane Jeanne made landfall.

Amy lives in Seminole County with her husband, daughters, Jaelyn and Graycen, and son, Anderson.
