Craig Lucie joined WESH 2 News as a general assignment reporter in 2007.Craig has been reporting since he was a teenager and has garnered several awards, including an Associated Press award for "Best Reporter" while working in Texas.Craig graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish. Following graduation, he joined the CBS affiliate KZTV in Corpus Christi where he worked as a reporter and weekend anchor. One of his most memorable experiences there was field anchoring a show as hundreds of Hurricane Katrina evacuees arrived at the coliseum. He has also reported while touring the military bases with Texas Senator John Cornyn and has interviewed Governor Rick Perry on several occasions.
Following KZTV, Craig went on to report for KTBC Fox 7 News in Austin, Texas, where Craig covered everything from dozens of brush fires to Texas floods. Austin is known for its cycling and triathlon community, in which Craig participated on a weekly basis. He has interviewed Lance Armstrong and had the opportunity to run with him during one of his Livestrong Challenges. Craig has also finished two half-ironman competitions. In 2007, he competed in Ironman California and the Buffalo Springs Ironman in the gueling summer heat of Lubbock, Texas. He says a full distance Ironman is on the horizon.Covering the "big" stories is what makes Craig tick. He loves being in the middle of the action and is not afraid to go as far as it takes to tell a story. To him, there's nothing like putting all his effort in a broadcast, knowing that in some way he either touched someone or helped the community.Craig is happy to call central Florida home. After spending nearly eight years in Texas, he says it's nice to be two hours away from his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoys running, swimming, cycling or just driving around exploring. He has an older brother who works in real estate in New York City, and they are both avid Jacksonville Jaguars fans.If you spot Craig around town, you should definitely say hello and take advantage of his position in the media so he can help you tell your story!
