Meteorologist

POSTED: 8:20 am EDT September 25, 2007
UPDATED: 7:25 am EDT May 30, 2008

Meteorologist Malachi Rodgers joined the WESH 2 Weather Plus team in October 2007 and appears on WESH 2 News Weekend at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. He also provides forecasts on the station's 24-hour weather network, WESH 2 Weather Plus.

Malachi was formerly a meteorologist at WIS-TV, WACH-TV, and WOLO-TV in Columbia, S.C., and WCCB-TV in Charlotte, N.C. During his time in Columbia, Malachi also anchored the weekend news and reported and anchored a morning show.

Malachi's hometown is Jonesville, S.C., and he credits the area's diverse weather with sparking his interest in weather forecasting. He attended Furman University in South Carolina and The Ohio Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Cleveland before completing his meteorology studies at Mississippi State University.

During his first month at WESH, Malachi provided weather outside from a different location each morning for WESH 2 News Sunrise. From airboat rides on the St. Johns River to feeding alligators at Gatorland, Malachi visited some of Central Florida's most unique spots.

Malachi moved to Orlando with his wife, LaVerne. He enjoys football, basketball and golf.

Malachi is excited to be in an active weather environment and with a weather team that makes weather coverage the top priority.
