Kendra Oestreich began her career as a reporter more than a decade ago in Minnesota, and she joined the WESH 2 News team in January 2007.

Kendra was born in Janesville, Wis. She graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, Kendra began her broadcasting career as a reporter at KTTC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rochester, Minn.

After working at KTTC-TV for a year, Kendra was hired at KXLT-TV, the Fox station in Rochester, where she was the weekend anchor. In seven months, Kendra was promoted to main anchor at KXLT-TV. She helped the news team in establishing the station as a serious news source for the area.

In 2003, a job opportunity at WGBA-TV, NBC26, in Green Bay, Wis., brought Kendra back to her home state. While working as a reporter at WGBA-TV, Kendra received the RTNDA Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her story "Rustic Roads," and in 2005, she was awarded three awards by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association -- the Spot News Story Award for "Mobile House Fire;" the Hard News Story Award for Fire Alarm Sting;" and the Mini-Documentary/Series Award for "Cyberwatch."

She was also named the University of South Dakota's "Alumni Rising Star."

Kendra's move from Green Bay to Florida is especially significant for her.

"I'm thrilled to now be here in Central Florida working at WESH. It's the first time I've moved out of the Midwest and I don't mind trading the snow for the sun," she said.

She is looking forward to getting to know the people of Central Florida and sharing their stories with the viewers. She values the importance of holding people accountable for their actions and promises to work hard to ensure accountability to all the viewers of WESH 2 News.

In her spare time, Kendra enjoys running, rollerblading, soaking up the sun and exploring new places with family and friends. She also takes pleasure in cheering on her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.
