A diesel fuel shortage due to Hurricane Ike is causing local school districts to cut back on field trips and some athletic events.

Orange County already canceled field trips.

School officials will decide Wednesday whether they'll cancel bus trips to football games as well.

Orange County said getting students to class is the top priority.

Seminole County schools also canceled field trips and buses for students who stay for after-school tutoring.

Seminole also said there will be no buses for middle school sports or high school bands for at least a week.
