Orlando Gives Booting Ordinance Boot

Fees Reduced For Booted Cars

The city is moving forward with a plan to crack down on the controversial practice of booting cars in downtown Orlando.

The devices disable cars parked illegally. The Orlando City Council passed a booting ordinance Monday.

Commissioners limited the fee towing companies can charge to remove the devices to $35 on Monday.

The fee will be reduced to $17 if a motorist arrives before the boot is fully installed.

Companies will also be required to report to the police when cars are booted and what was charged.
