Buffett Mellow Over Heat Altercation
Singer Thrown Out Of Basketball Game
Jimmy Buffett, the always happy Margaritaville guy, blew a gasket Sunday at a Miami Heat game, and he said Wednesday that he isn't sorry about it.
Sportscasters have been calling it "the expletive heard round the world." Buffett was upset with referee Jim Forte's call and let fly with language not appropriate for the young children in the vicinity. Forte ejected him from his seat during the fourth quarter.
"I was just doing what I normally do," Buffett said. "I thought it was a bad call, and it's Knicks and Heat, you know -- you all hate them as much as I do."
Miami Heat coach Pat Riley was amused by the altercation.
"Jimmy's our Spike Lee," Riley said.
Buffett was amused that the referee didn't know who he was. "He obviously wasn't aware of who I was or where he was doing this," Buffett said
NewsChannel 2 asked Buffett if he had learned his lesson and if he was going to watch it.
"If my son's there, (yes)," Buffett said. "If he's not there, no. I was more afraid of going home and seeing my wife after this whole thing happened because I knew what she was going to say."
Buffett also said that he is more upset that a newspaper called his son his grandson.
Buffett is in Orlando to kick off a new tour with a concert Thursday at the TD Waterhouse Center.
