The crash happened one-half mile south of Melbourne and was reported at 6:15 a.m. Southbound traffic was diverted off I-95 at Wickham Road until just before 9 a.m.

Investigators said a Ford Mustang was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and crossed the median. The car hit a southbound pickup truck and overturned.

The truck driver was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was listed in stable condition.

The accident also has caused a slowdown on the northbound lanes of I-95 near the crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
