Undecided voters in a WESH 2 News focus group say last week’s vice president debate has them wanting to hear more from the main contenders, Barack Obama and John McCain, during their debate on Tuesday evening.Undecided voter Jim Herring said he was turned off by Palin last week.“She is a walking vacuum of knowledge,” said Herring. “There's nothing there. It's all presentation.”But Leon Hampton, another undecided voter in our group, had a different perspective.“The minute it ended, I looked over at my wife and said, what did you think? She did pretty good? She said, ‘Yeah,’ ” Hampton said. The vice presidential debate has Herring revved up to see what happens tonight. He said he has liked Sen. McCain, but isn’t sure what he thinks about McCain, the presidential candidate.“We need to hear a promise from both sides, but particularly from Sen. McCain, that we will not fill your TVs and your telephones and your airwaves with negative ads about how terrible the other guy is,” Herring said.Said Hampton, “I need to hear some honesty for a change, as far as what's right for the American people.”One member of our focus group members, however, is no longer undecided. Tracy Thompson said she has decided to vote for McCain, despite some reservations about Palin.“Hopefully she will not be President, at any time,” she said.We will continue to feature comments from these and other undecided voters between now and election day.
