SANFORD, Fla. -- As more and more fireworks start exploding around Central Florida, many pets will act strangely.
"The loud booms are no better than severe thunderstorms. Animals react violently to them at times," Morgan Woodward of Seminole County Animal Services said.
Loud fireworks can be too much for dogs."Their natural instinct is to flee and in Central Florida we see a lot of stray animals afterwards and during the fireworks," Woodward said. The sights and sounds that entertain people can threaten animals.Woodward advises keeping pets inside if possible and if they must be outside, stay with them and reassure them. She also said it's best to make sure they have collars and tags."That's the most sure-fire way for us to identify and find owners," Woodward said.
