MIAMI, Fla. -- Police said a Miami man who suspected his girlfriend of being unfaithful tortured the woman for more than three hours.

According to police, Roman Rengifo had been drinking before he began beating his girlfriend Saturday evening. Police said he accused her of cheating and started kicking and punching her. Then he threatened her with a knife and dunked her head in a bathtub filled with water several times.

Eventually, police said, Rengifo tied the woman up with cords and threw her in a closet. When he saw that she was trying to escape, he tied her to a bedpost.

The woman told police that after Renfigo left the apartment, she was able to free herself and call for help.

Authorities are still looking for Rengifo.
