Cubs Acquire Gregg From Marlins

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs acquired reliever Kevin Gregg from the Florida Marlins on Thursday in exchange for minor league pitcher Jose Ceda.

The right-handed Gregg made 72 appearances for the Marlins last season, posting a 7-8 record with 29 saves in 38 chances and a 3.41 earned run average. The 30-year-old held opposing batters to a .203 average.

In six MLB seasons with the Angels and Marlins, Gregg owns an 18-21 record in 271 games (eight starts) with 62 saves and a 4.00 ERA.

Ceda, 21, split last season between Single-A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee. He combined to go 4-3 with nine saves and a 3.83 ERA in 37 games -- 12 of which were starts.
