Insurance Movies Prevent Hurricane Headaches

Hurricanes may only last a couple of days, but the aftereffects can last for years.

By using preventative measures, getting rid of an extra headache after the storm passes can be easy, WESH 2 News reported.

An insurance movie can be a helpful way of keeping track of valuable possessions inside a home. An insurance movie is a video or pictures of the home that is kept in case a hurricane causes damage.

When using a still camera, the pictures should be saved to a disk or printed and added to important files. When using a video camera, the camera operator should specifically narrate what is being filmed.

Make sure important characteristics are stated. Serial numbers or identifying marks should also be mentioned. Going deep into the home by opening closets and drawers will help to remember the little things that can be forgotten when filing a claim.

A copy of the tape can also be made once filming is completed, and the tape can be given to a friend or relative for safe keeping.

Most importantly, records should be kept current as hurricane season progresses. Experts said that at a minimum, financial kits should be reviewed once a year.
