Listen up!

Class is in session.

Podcast: Episode 54

It's "Survivor Series" time already? Where did 2007 go? Time flies when you're cranking out the best weekly wrestling column on planet Earth. Modesty? Please. I'm Professor Wrestling, the Web wonder when it comes to predicting sports entertainment results. Doubt me? Then click through each and every one of the links below. There's a year's worth, so you'll be busy glancing at greatness.

OK, enough about me. What about the big show? Here's what happened:

Challenge Match: The Great Khali vs. Hornswoggle
What Should Happen: It's the dwarf versus the giant, and I'm not talking Rey Mysterio. Vince McMahon's "son" takes on the worst worker ever to climb inside the ropes. I'm rooting for the little guy, who I think should win. This comedy match isn't important in the great scheme of things. What's crucial is that this short match entertains the paying customers. Booked properly, it should.

What Will Happen: Hornswoggle will somehow trip up the big goof, and win.

What Did Happen: Finlay interfered, and got Hornswoggle disqualified. Khali won.

Divas Tag Team Match: Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall and Melina and Victoria and Layla vs. Mickie James and Maria and Torrie Wilson and Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly
What Should Happen: Ten silicone-stuffed divas. Zero rules. Happy Thanksgiving.

What Will Happen: The bad gal team led by Ms. Phoenix will win.

What Did Happen: The babyfaces, led by Mickie James, won the match.

ECW Championship Match: C.M. Punk (c) vs. John Morrison vs. The Miz
What Should Happen: Ho hum. Aren't there any other performers in ECW? I feel like I've seen this match 1,000 times. What should happen? I'm so bored, how about giving the miserable Miz a title run? A guy you can't stand to look at might just be a good choice for a chicken heel champion.

What Will Happen: Oh, what the heck. I'm picking Miz to win.

What Did Happen: Wrong again. Punk pinned Miz, retaining his belt.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch (c) vs. Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly
What Should Happen: It looks like it took Dusty's son to get Holly on a big show again. That's clout. As for this match, Cade and Murdoch should retain, with Rhodes and Holly eventually feuding against each other.

What Will Happen: Cade and Murdoch will keep their tag straps.

What did Happen: Cade and Murdoch prevailed, with Rhodes getting pinned.

Traditional Survivor Series Match: Triple H and Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy and Kane vs. Umaga and Big Daddy V and Finlay and MVP and Mr. Kennedy
What Should Happen: If the writers were smart, this should be a "build up the young stars" match. That means Umaga, MVP and Kennedy should steal the show. Otherwise, what's the point?

What Will Happen: Team HHH will win, win, win.

What Did Happen: Even with the good guys down a man (Matt Hardy was hurt), they still won.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Batista (c) vs. Undertaker
What Should Happen: This is a "Hell In The Cell" contest, featuring the two "Smackdown!" stars. If I were writing the show, I'd have Undertaker win -- and have him open up a bit on the microphone. The "Deadman" gimmick is OK, but this guy has been around for so long, you'd think he'd have a few stories to tell. Sorry, but Batista bores me as a babyface and as a talker. He was much better as a monster heel.

What Will Happen: I'm going to go against the grain again and say Undertaker will take this one.

What Did Happen: Edge interfered, costing Undertaker the match. Batista retained.

WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. Shawn Michaels
What Should Happen: In this one, Orton can't get disqualified and Michaels can't use his super-kick. If either happens, the other guy automatically gets the belt. Fine. Dandy. Whatever. What's really important here is that Michaels wins. I think a title showdown between Michaels and his DX pal Triple H at "WrestleMania" is much more interesting than anything WWE is cooking up right now.

What Will Happen: I'm a dreamer. I know. That's why Orton will find a way to win.

What did Happen: It was a fine match, with Orton pinning Michaels.

Those are my picks for WWE's "Survivor Series." Admittedly, a tough night for predictions, as I had three right and four wrong. This close to Thanksgiving, I guess that makes me a turkey. Oh well. This week, my co-hosts Dr. Mike Lano and George Schire will yak about the traditional "Survior Series" format and give their thumbs up or thumbs down on the Khali/Hornswoggle contest.
