OVIEDO, Fla. -- Parents fighting to retain school bus service in Oviedo got some good news Monday. The sheriff's office is officially on their side, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.
The controversy centers on an expanded stretch of state Road 434. During construction, all of the local elementary school kids were bussed to classes, but those living within two miles of the school have now been told they have to return to walking.Angry parents got the sheriff's office involved, and a traffic safety expert agreed that it remains a hazardous situation."I think it's unsafe [for] elementary school students," Lt. Tony Fannin said.A meeting of the school safety advisory committee will be held in Seminole County next Tuesday to decide what to do about the parents' concerns.
